Just a quick note on my feelings of Australia’s performance against Wales over the weekend.
Any match against Wales is going to be tough especially on their home ground, when France is hosting the world cup. Our last two games against Wales stands at one loss and one draw, so the Welsh definitely had the upper hand coming into this match. Nevertheless I knew it would be an Australian victory, regardless of the past match-ups and the unfair advantage the Welsh possesed with their home ground.
It was a solid performance by Australia with Chris Latham being the noteable standout with two tries again, and an amazing high kick regather to score his second. I was quite impressed with Berrick Barnes as he showed that we now have a promising future for the number 10 position after Larkham retires. It was a well fought victory and a rough one at that, although I should comment on our poor second half performance, allowing Wales to score 17 points on us. Nevertheless we won with minimal injuries, Sterling Mortlock is being rested for a couple of games after partially dislocating his shoulder when scoring his try.
So far so good for our cup run, let’s hope we can keep this momentum going.
N.B. How good was Portugal’s singing of their national anthem!
